The anamorphically enhanced DVD delivers incredibly sharp and detailed images, with superb vertical and horizontal resolution. All aspects of image quality are superbly rendered with breathtaking clarity and definition. There is no noise or artifacts. The anamorphic and letterbox aspect ratios are 2.35:1. The Dolby® Digital 5.1 discrete DVD soundtrack is pleasing throughout. Low frequency effects are essentially limited to the end scenes. Split surround delineation is nicely dimensional. This is an effective soundfield experience, though the Dolby Digital presentation lacks distinguishing dynamic impact.

The picture quality is terrific on the anamorphic widescreen DVD. The DVD, when viewed through the component video output, is dramatically sharp with excellent shadow delineation and contrast. Colors are richly hued, with natural fleshtones and deep, solid blacks. Neither version displays noise or artifacts. The letterbox and anamorphic DVD aspect ratios are framed at 2.35:1. The Dolby® Digital discrete 5.1 soundtrack is nicely presented, though soundfield delineation could have been more effective in some scenes that otherwise fall short of aggressive surround envelopment. Bass is sometimes deep and powerful, but .1 low frequency effects are limited. The music score is haunting and nicely recorded, imaging wide and deep across the soundstage. Dialogue sounds natural, but leakage in the front channels is occasionally noticed.

The anamorphically enhanced DVD, when viewed in component video, is naturally rendered with superb color fidelity, natural fleshtones, and deep, true blacks. Images are extremely sharp and detailed, with superb vertical and horizontal resolution. The DVD is solid with minimal noise. The most impressive aspect of image quality is contrast and shadow delineation. The anamorphic and letterbox aspect ratios measure 2.35:1. The discrete 5.1 Dolby® Digital soundtrack is sure to please with an effective holosonic soundfield experience. Surround envelopment is aggressive and dimensionally delineated, often putting you into the scene. Discrete split surrounds are terrific and enhance the sense of space. Bass extension is deep and powerful, and the .1 LFE is often active. The music score is well recorded and dynamic with a wide soundstage presence. Dialogue sounds natural, but is a bit forward and wanting in effective spatial integration.
