The picture should be viewed in a completely blackened room due to the dark, muddy character of the film. Filters were used during filmmaking to create a gloomy, stylized effect, but many of those scenes appear grainy and noisy. The picture is generally sharp and detailed, but wanting in finer definition. The DVD measures 2.35:1, anamorphic and letterbox. The Dolby® Digital discrete 5.1 soundtrack delivers an exciting and system challenging holosonic soundfield experience with extreme deep bass extension and powerful SPL. Bass response is below 25 Hz, even in the surround channels and is often enforced with .1 LFE enhancement. This is, in fact, one the most intense bass active soundtracks ever produced. Surround envelopment is often aggressive with split surround dimensionality from both the music score and ambient effects. Dialogue sounds natural throughout with good spatial integration.
