Moong Dal Split and without Skin

Split Moong or "dhuli Moong" are yellow split beans. A native of India, these are tiny cylindrical seeds are hulled and split. They are easy to cook, need little soaking and are easy to digest. Moong dal is a popular choice for yoga practitioners. Whole Moong beans and splits ones are quite different and seldom interchangeable. Lentils are used to make soups, stews, and salads and in India, they are made into spicy dals. In Ayurveda, split Moong dal is recommended for children, elderly people and convalescents, as it is easily digested and nutritious. Lentils have a protein content of 25%. They are a good source of protein, fiber, carbohydrates, B vitamins, magnesium, iron, and zinc. Uses 1. It is combined with onions, tomato and spices to make a classic dal, lentil or stew. 2. Combined with rice and vegetables it makes a nutritious stew. 3. This lentil makes excellent soups.
