This non-anamorphic 2.32:1 DVD appears to have been created from a composite source due to NTSC motion artifacts. Scan lines are visible throughout the picture, which looks dated and is wanting in natural color fidelity. There are slight red overtones throughout the color fidelity, affecting fleshtones, sometimes more than others. Blacks are deep and undefined. Images are very harsh and wanting in fine detail. There is more digital noise apparent in the darker scenes, but artifacts are apparent throughout. The monaural soundtrack has been encoded in Dolby® Digital 2.0 for an undistinguished and overall distracting experience in which the soundtrack is spread to the two front channels rather than properly encoded 1.0 monaural.

The DVD, framed at 2.40:1, is not anamorphic. Images are generally sharp with good background delineation. Blacks sometimes lack true depth and definition. Some of the computer created imagery looks finely detailed, but the DVD appears to be created from a composite D-2 source, due to some apparent NTSC motion artifacts. The original 4.0 soundtrack printmaster has been remastered to 5.1 and coded in Dolby® Digital. The sound character exhibits a ponderous bass rumble produced by dominant .1 LFE. While surround envelopment is often effectively spatial, it is not always as aggressive. This may initially sound impressive, but one soon realizes the unnaturalness, no matter how many directional surrounds.

The opening scenes are presented in black-and-white with a good gray scale. The non-anamorphic 1.85:1 picture is strangely stylized with intriguing imagery that is generally sharp, but wanting in detail and definition. Colors are inconsistent and often smeared, with blacks that lack true, solid depth. Contrast and shadow delineation are mediocre, with the darker scenes wanting in definition. There are no distracting artifacts and little compression pixelization. This strange film will delight fans of adult horror, but overall is mediocre at best. The soundtrack is presented in 4-channel matrix Dolby® Surround. Not much is really expected for this "B" movie. The music has an aggressive presence in the 4-channel soundfield and a good low-end. There's some use of dimensional sound effects, but ambient sound effects don't seem to blend well into the soundfield. Furthermore, dialogue level is too high and out of place with the picture, and is directed from all screen channels.
