John Carpenter
Birthdate: 16 Jan 1948 Birthplace: Carthage, New York, US John Carpenter was born in Carthage, New York. His family moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky, where his father was the head of the music department at Western Kentucky University. He attended Western Kentucky University and then USC film school in Los Angeles. In 1970 he won the Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Live Action) for "The Resurrection of Bronco Billy". In the mid-1970s Carpenter formed a band (along with fellow film directors Tommy Lee Wallace and Nick Castle) called "The Coupe de Villes". Since the 1970s, he has numerous roles in the film industry including writer, actor, composer, producer and director. |
